New Clips at MST3K.com

Two new legacy clips have been posted over at MST3K.com. Check out the almost-marriage between Tom Servo and Crow from episode 616- RACKET GIRLS and bask in the classic “tank tops” vs. “tickle bazooka” invention exchange from 204- CATALINA CAPER.

Let’s put on our feetie pajamas and jump up and down on the bed!

Have they given up on the little animated shorts?! Just when I was expecting it to pick up steam. Hm.

Yeah, when are we going to get some more animated shorts? I for one think they’re pretty cool.

If Jim Mallon owns everything MST, why doesn’t he just use the actual puppets instead of animation? I’m sure he must have a few of em
    lying around.

    Sets?

    Lights?

    Electricity?

    Crew?

    Coffee and donuts?

Can someone explain that bit to me? I’ve never understood what it was supposed to mean and it’s not exactly the kind of thing that’s Google-friendly for researching.

It was a little ditty that Crow sang in an episode. Can’t remember for the life of me though!

I like the animation method they use. But I’ve been kind of let down by the quality of those segments. But they shouldn’t give up. I’d love to write one for them. Rifftrax did a fan written thing…mst3k.com can too.

Could care less if any more of those awful shorts are made. The site itself is beyond dull. Old clips and poorly written flashtoons do not sweeten the deal to buy a shirt (I shoulda grabbed a “You know you want me, baby” shirt when SN still had the shop) If this is all that Mallon wants to do with the rights to the characters then I guess he is having his reward in full. *shrug*

Cab — *Poorly written*? Isn’t that a little harsh? Paul Chaplin not only wrote for MST3K, but guest starred more than anyone else on the show.

Solitaire may be a little slow, but the rest — especially Thanksgiving — could easily have been Sci Fi era host segments.

These cartoons aren’t “preventing” a true MST3K reunion. Even if Mallon launched a live action MST3K, he probably couldn’t find distribution. Mike, Bill and Kevin couldn’t even sell The Film Crew to Rhino! They had to tear down the sets and pack up their jumpsuits for the *third* time. And that sucks.

Take ’em for what they are: Cartoons based on a cool property. It’s just like The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Not as funny as Ghostbusters, but still a lot of fun.

    FYI:

    1) Even when they were listed here, you’d have been buying them from Best Brains.

    2) The “You know you want me, baby” shirt is available in the “Legacy Tee’s” section.

Me? I can’t decide whether to buy that Tom Servo’s Favorite Host Segments DVD or not. If only it had something other than “Poopie I” (which I already have, natch) as a bonus.

Did I say the toons themselves are “preventing” a reunion? No. Just that this is apparently all that Jim wants to do/allow with the characters. Take the time to search out what others have said. But I know there are two sides to every story.
The shorts don’t make me laugh. So therefore, they feel poorly written. If the dialogue was crisp and witty, it’d feel different. Instead, we have Crow on a jetbike rambling non-stop while Tom yells in the background. So instead of them being endearing, they come off as annoying flash characters.

    2nd: Legacy tees, gotcha.

I would like the new site for at least the classic host segment clips, had they not ill-advisedly cut off the top and bottom of the frame for that pseudo-widescreen effect. Show us the whole screen, Jim!

Also, some theater segments would be nice. They certainly skewered enough public domain movies where rights wouldn’t be an issue.

Does anyone know if there were castmembers from Long Island, NY? I was recently watching ‘The Rebel Set’ (#519) and during one of the Satellite of Love segments, Mike rattles off a bunch of train stations from Long Island’s Montauk line. Just wondering, thanks!

Thanks, Sampo. After posting I realized it was episode #419, and it was Joel. Thanks a lot!!
