RIP Charles T. Knight

NORTH DAKOTA — Charles T. Knight, a veteran sound technician in Hollywood from the 1960s to the 1990s, died here June 29. He was 91.

He was nominated for an Oscar in 1973 for “Butterflies Are Free.” His very first movie credit was for the movie “Monstrosity,” seen in episode 518- THE ATOMIC BRAIN. After he left show biz, he spent his remaining days as an auto mechanic.

RIP Jimmy Weldon

BURBANK, CALIF. — Jimmy Weldon, a voice actor, ventriloquist, television host and movie actor, died here July 6. He was best known as the voice of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon character Yakky Doodle and the host and ventriloquist in the locally produced television series The Webster Webfoot Show. He was 99.

As a young man he was in the U.S. Army, serving with the combat engineers under U.S. Gen. George S. Patton. Weldon’s squad liberated the Buchenwald death camp. He has discussed his experience as a motivational speaker.
