Posted by Sampo, on January 15th, 2012 We got a note from Ben Solovey, the guy who has been working to restore “‘Manos’ The Hands of Fate.” At his blog, he has posted the first 2K resolution image from the original camera materials.
Up till now, I’ve only been able to share images from the film that have been scanned crudely on a flatbed. This image, on the other hand, comes from the same professional grade film scanner used by the Criterion Collection to digitize their film releases, the DFT Scanity. Yesterday marked the first scanning session in the project, which is still fundraising on Kickstarter, and I’d like to share this image to give people a more accurate view of the level of quality that the restoration is working at.

Posted by Sampo, on January 15th, 2012 Charly Shelton, apropos of nothing as far as I can see, has a piece about RiffTrax in the Crescent Valley Weekly.
Posted by Sampo, on January 14th, 2012 During this week’s episode guide discussion there were a lot of folks who expressed admiration and sadness for Lon Cheney Jr., lamenting how far he had fallen from his Wolfman days.
So let’s open this topic up. Which actor or actress in a MSTed movie do you genuinely admire for the good work they did, even though they also did a MSTed movie?
My pick is easy: George Reeves, who created one of the most iconic TV characters of all time.
Your pick?
