New Short from RiffTrax…

I think a Palentology grad student could do his/her thesis on what’s wrong with this short.

Download it or see a sample here.

Anyone with a high school education could tell you what was wrong with this short.

This is where the King Dinosaur’s script writer took information from.

Say, just how many public domain cartoons has Rifftrax taken on outside of their Christmas special? Every time I’m in a Dollar Castle, I see the same handful of Korean cartoons dubbed by Joseph Lai that are just begging to be professionally riffed.

Though even if they are PD, there’d be two hurdles for MK&B:

    1. They’d need some genuine anime fans on staff to correctly identify every single robot, spaceship, and human character design ripped off by the Korean studios. For some stretches of “Space Thunder Kids”, it would actually work to just do state-park-ish lists of everything rushing by.

    2. Even if they are PD, the owners of the properties ripped off might bother suing if Rifftrax put them on the radar. “Savior of the Earth” (AKA “Computer Warship Nuclear Bombing Operation”) is the one that’s almost impossible to find, and since it’s a total rip-off of TRON, I have a feeling Disney lawyers are the reason why.

Then again, none of those are shorts, and feature-length cartoons probably just don’t have a niche with Rifftrax yet. Just saying this Dino-short could foreshadow great things to come.

Meh, it’s science. New information is discovered and the old information is wrong, and sometimes laughable, as is the case here. The riffing was pretty funny. Certainly worth $0.75.

This looks cool but the real news (via Facebook) is Rifftrax’s next VOD will be the 1984 schlocker Mutants. Had a tough time finding that on imdb. Original title was Night Shadows.

  8. I saw Mutant recently. Apparently it has it’s own small cult following. It’s not nearly as bad as Frankenstein Island or Curse of Bigfoot but there are a few key scenes that will be ripe for some savage riffing, at least. And with the creepy Wings Hauser as the protagonist, there’s no shortage of material.

Wow – I didn’t realize they hired 7 year olds to do animation… I guess the child labor laws were different then. Another fine Riff!!

“Mutant” is also apparently directed by John “Bud” Carlos, who brought us “Outlaw of Gor”! “Because YOU are behaving like a BITCH in HEAT, and nawt like a QUEEEEENNN…”
