RiffTrax Live Online Christmas Show Cancelled

In what seems to us like a prudent move, RiffTrax has announced that the scheduled Dec. 17 “live online” show has been cancelled. Their riff of “Santa Claus and the Christmas Bunny” will be released as a video download (VOD and download-to-burn).
More info on the movie here.

Bill Interview

Here’s a collision of cool: James Lileks interviews Bill Corbett.

James neglects to mention in his intro, however, that Bill has a play running right now in the Twin Cities:
“Super-Powered Revenge Christmas #1,” running through Dec. 18 at the Minneapolis Theater Garage, 711 W Franklin Ave. Tickets are on sale now. More info here. He also says Bill is “working on” the play “Hate Mail.” While I guess fine-tuning might still happen, that play has existed for years and had been performed a number of times around the country.

Weekend Discussion Thread: Best/Worst Bands in MSTed Movies

Alert reader Ken suggests:

Have we discussed favorite/least favorite bands featured in movies on the show? For example, I actually really love the Del Aires. (But they are SO FUN to make fun of.) But the VERY WORST PERFORMANCE (in my opinion) occurs at the “Radio Station” in THE DEAD TALK BACK. They are apparently supposed to be a JAZZ COMBO, but they sound less swinging than the Power Steves!

I’d agree The Del Aires are a lot of fun. As for the worst band, I’d have to pick the house band in “Incredibly Strange Creatures…” The cleaning ladies in the audience seemed to like it, though.

What would be your picks?

The Latest on the “Manos” Sequel

Our pal Rupert “ToRgO” Munch has checked in with some news about “Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge,” his sequel to “‘Manos’ The Hands of Fate.”
Topping the news is that he’s making available the first teaser poster for the movie, which you can download for free.
Also some pretty astounding casting news: 75-year-old TOM NEYMAN, who played The MASTER in the original, (thought by some to be dead, he is in fact alive and well) has come out of semi-seclusion to reprise his role.
See the poster and get all the news at Torgolives.com.
